What is form submit rate?

Form submit rate is the percentage of people who see a form and successfully submit it — form submits divided by form views — and it isolates form performance from traffic volume.

Definition

Form submit rate is form submits divided by form views, expressed as a percentage. It answers one question: of the people who reached the form, how many completed it?

Because it excludes traffic volume, it is the cleanest way to measure whether a change to the form itself helped or hurt.

Why it matters

  • Lead count mixes traffic and conversion together, so a form problem and a traffic problem look identical in it.
  • Submit rate reacts immediately to field changes, validation changes, and mobile layout problems.
  • It is the metric to watch when you deliberately add friction — such as making phone required — to see what the trade-off actually cost.

How to detect it

  1. 1Track form views and form submits as separate events.
  2. 2Compare comparable windows: same days of week, similar traffic sources, split by device.
  3. 3Watch for a step change on a specific date rather than a gradual drift — a step change means something shipped.

Example

Illustrative scenario: 1,000 form views and 120 submits is a 12% submit rate. After a required phone field, 1,000 views produce 84 submits — 8.4%. Traffic did not change; the form did.

How Quarkad helps

Quarkad tracks form views and submits as distinct funnel events, so a submit-rate movement is visible on its own and can be lined up against the form change that preceded it.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good form submit rate?
There is no universal benchmark — it depends on offer, audience, traffic source, and device. The useful comparison is your own form against its own recent baseline.
Should I count submit attempts or successful submits?
Track both if you can. A gap between attempts and successes points at validation or a failing endpoint rather than at hesitation.

Find the change behind the drop.

Quarkad monitors your funnels and the changes around them, then tells you which change lines up with the drop.
